Why we oppose Sizewell C

Nuclear is dangerous
The accidents at Chernobyl, Fukushima, Three Mile Island and SL-1 in Idaho are evidence that nuclear is not safe or secure.

Nuclear is not sustainable
Sea levels will rise as the worst effects of the climate crisis play out. The Suffolk coast is precarious and unstable. Fossil fuels will be used for infrastructure and to transport radioactive waste.

Nuclear is expensive
Renewables are increasingly efficient and cheap.  Excess power can now be stored and used later. Sizwell C is expected to cost around £15 billion.

Nuclear will ruin the environment
Local wildlife, residents, visitors and Minsmere will be adversely affected by the site’s infrastructure (quarries, car parks, weight of transport and accommodation).

We join RSPB, Friends of the Earth, Suffolk Coast and Heaths in opposing Sizewell C
